An ultra-high frequency trading firm uses Interactive Data 7ticks for its low latency trading infrastructure. Interactive Data supplies proximity hosting, managed services and exchange monitoring.
This client’s mission-critical trading application is hosted inside the Nasdaq data center in Carteret, N.J., one of the co-location POPs available on the Interactive Data global low latency backbone. Interactive Data is responsible for implementing the customer servers and connecting them to the high speed financial backbone, which contains the latest state-of-the-art switches and routers for ultra low latency.
The client will leverage this financial backbone for equities market data and order routing as well as data from the CME. The firm plans to eventually expand its trading strategy to include all of the equity markets available on the Interactive Data trading infrastructure.
Interactive Data’s managed services and financial backbone afforded this high frequency trading client the opportunity to be trading in a fraction of the time and cost it would take to do it itself, and Interactive Data’s knowledgeable staff acts as an extension of the firm’s IT team. This arrangement enables the firm to focus on trading and not technology.
Investment Banks
The exchange traded derivatives area of a top-tier investment bank selected Interactive Data 7ticks to help facilitate proprietary trading of futures contracts. The firm uses Interactive Data for exchange connectivity, allowing it to receive market data and execute on global futures exchanges. Interactive Data hosts the client’s cabinet, which contains servers and routers, in its main data center in Chicago. Via Interactive Data, the client is connected to three futures exchanges, enabling it to execute trades using the FIX protocol and to access raw data feeds.
The client also uses three ISVs to facilitate trading capabilities for two sponsored access clients, and is redundantly connected to its clients by way of inter-building cross connections within the data center. Interactive Data is ISV neutral and allows clients to trade using any off-the-shelf software package or custom-built application.
The client can access its cabinet via either a dedicated line from its office or the Internet. Interactive Data proactively monitors the client’s hardware and software on a 24/7 basis, performing daily start-up checks, providing alerts regarding any threshold breaches and facilitating any necessary updates as and when required. The client also uses Interactive Data’s premium performance monitoring service for detailed latency analysis and performance.
Most recently, the investment bank’s equities and asset management businesses have also made the decision to use Interactive Data’s services.
