Carol Sweeney
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Carol Sweeney is senior vice president and general counsel for Interactive Data Corporation. She is responsible for leading all aspects of Interactive Data’s global legal and compliance initiatives.
Ms. Sweeney joined Interactive Data in 2003 as deputy general counsel with responsibility for a range of areas, including overseeing Company-wide legal policies and procedures, supporting complex legal transactions that included numerous acquisitions, and leading negotiations for various agreements with customers, data sources and other organizations.
Prior to Interactive Data, Ms. Sweeney was first vice president, office of general counsel at Merrill Lynch. In this role, she provided legal support for the Merrill Lynch Business Development Group and was responsible for legal aspects of major strategic initiatives for institutional equity, debt, and operations. Ms. Sweeney served in other important roles during her nearly 20 year career at Merrill Lynch, including senior counsel in Merrill Lynch’s corporate law department and director for their Y2K compliance program. Before joining Merrill Lynch, she worked in the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development in New York City and was an associate at the Proskauer Rose law firm.
Ms. Sweeney is a graduate of New York University and New York Law School.
